Bill,
Last October I got to meet two of the best bass fishing has
to offer Shaw Grisby and Kevin Van Damn and had an 11.76 lb.
lunker to win Wild Bill's tournament. What on earth could top
that? Well look at the grin on my face. On the first day of
this trip, October 10, 2002, I caught an 11.0, an 8.0 two 7.6's
and I don't know how many 6's. The second day along came a 12.0
in the morning and I was on cloud nine. Then in the afternoon
session this 12.3 smacked a 3/4 oz. silver blue Rat-L-Trap while
I was paralleling casting a bank. It was in a foot and a half
of water at 3:30 in the afternoon. Don't ask me why because
I don't care. Talk about being high, I couldn't get any higher.
For me the big fish came on a 3/4 oz. silver
blue back Rat-L-Trap and the 1 oz. version in deeper water over
12 feet. No worm or plastic bite to speak of. Cranks produced
well also, with the 3/4 oz. Fat Free Citrus Shad still producing
the best. Top water was a little off but the fish were quality
6's and sevens 7's when they bit. If you wanted some numbers
the Senko Watermellon Seed was the way to go.
Bill thanks for a another wonderful trip. The service at El
Salto is still as good as the fishing. Tony and Jose keep everything
humming and they continue to produce fishing trips of a life
time.
Thanks again and see you
next year,
Jim McLeod.
