Dear Wild Bill,
I cannot express just how much I enjoyed my
recent trip to Trophy Bass Lodge on Lake Huites.
I must admit, I had some doubts about our fishing
success during my February 13-15, 2006 visit to Lake Huites.
I had heard reports that the lake had suffered an unexpected
massive draw-down a few years ago which resulted in a fish kill
and that the fishing was no where near what it was four or five
years ago when I had first visited the lake.
I am happy to report that Lake Huites is flourishing.
Perhaps there was a brief lull in the bass fishing action after
the draw-down, but it seems that Huites' spunky largemouths
have bounced back in a big way. After my partner and I landed
over 600 fish in those three days of fishing, I cannot imagine
any better fishing success.
On top of that, I managed to land the largest
bass of my life, a hefty largemouth just missing the 11 pound
mark.
I report on my catch so that others that may
be concerned about the draw-down and slow fishing should not
hesitate to come to Lake Huites for their next fishing adventure.
I had been to Huites on two other occasions
and I must confess that this trip far exceeded my success as
compared with those previous two visits. In fact, I think I
personally caught more fish in one day on Huites on this trip
as I caught in 6 cumulative days on previous trips.
Bill, I will be back to Huites in the future.
I cannot comprehend how the fishing can get any better.
Thanks for the hospitality of the lodge staff
and also how well you prepared me in terms of what lures to
bring and how and where to fish them.
